Fall, Food & Gratitude
We’ve had an amazing autumn here: gorgeous colors, fantastic weather and and good work. I was fortunate to spend this weekend with family, friends and fabulous food. We hosted a big crowd at our house, which is why I’m just now writing the Thanksgiving post (better late than never!).
Here are some things that I am especially grateful for:
*Photography, which feeds my soul and allows me to express my vision and share it with the world.
*My eyes, without which I could not look through the camera lens and see the beauty around us.
*Travel, which I consider a necessity and also feeds my soul. In spite of long lines, no leg room and extra fees from airlines, I still get a thrill from going to the airport, getting on a plane and going to a different place within a few hours or overnight.
*Moments of silence - So rare and treasured, I love when I can actually turn off the technology and tune out. This is when creativity thrives.
*Other photographers who have paved the road before me, still teaching me and helping me grow as an artist and businessperson. Thank you, especially, Doug Merriam, Nevada Wier, Craig Tanner and all the photography blogs I follow (see list at right).
*Food – yes, an obvious choice, it nourishes our bodies, hearts and minds. Best shared at the table with those you love. A special thank you to my dear friend Melissa, for not only sharing the amazing flavors of her cooking, but allowing me to photograph her cookbook (coming soon!) and making me fall in love with another genre of photography. Check out my new Food portfolio.
*Chocolate – maybe this should be in the “Food” category, but I think it’s in a class by itself. I like mine dark. I won’t live without it. Enough said.
*My friends and family, who support me and love me for who I am (you know who you are) – I am so honored to have you all in my life, especially my husband and daughter, who inspire me and fill me with joy every day.
So, Thanksgiving is over, the leftovers are almost gone, but let’s keep our gratitude going every day – thank you for reading!
